Appliance Removal and Disposal in Burleson, TX
Burleson’s bulk pickup takes a stove or a dishwasher without a second thought. A refrigerator, a freezer or an air conditioner is different: unless a sticker shows the Freon has been removed, the city will not collect it, and the hazardous waste routes open to Burleson residents will not take it either.

What Burleson’s bulk pickup will and will not take
Burleson’s bulk collection runs on two schedules. Up to 3 cubic yards goes out weekly, on your second collection day; anything larger waits for the monthly pickup in your zone week, at the curb the Sunday before and collected Monday to Friday.
Regular kitchen appliances are on the list it collects. Appliances that held Freon are collected only with a sticker showing it has been removed, and appliances that have not had the Freon removed are on the do-not-collect list — so the refrigerator, the chest freezer and the window unit sit in a different category from the stove.
Without that sticker, the other public routes are closed too. Burleson’s own household hazardous waste events, open only to residents inside city limits, do not accept items containing refrigerant. The Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center, which Burleson residents can use at no fee, does not take appliances. And Fort Worth’s Drop-Off Stations are for Fort Worth residents only.
Burleson appliance disposal, appliance by appliance
From the city’s own published bulk rules. Programs change, so the sources are listed at the foot of the page.
| Appliance | Route in Burleson |
|---|---|
| Stove, oven, dishwasher | Regular kitchen appliances go out with bulk: weekly up to 3 cubic yards, or in your monthly zone week. |
| Refrigerator or freezer | Collected only with a sticker showing the Freon has been removed. Without one, there is no city route. |
| Window or portable air conditioner | The same Freon rule as a refrigerator. |
| Anything still inside the house | Paid removal: carried out from the kitchen, the laundry room or the garage, with refrigerant-bearing units routed to a facility that recovers it. |
The second refrigerator in the garage
Burleson has grown fast for two decades, and plenty of its garages hold a second refrigerator — the one replaced when the kitchen was updated, or brought along from the last house. It is the awkward one: it still holds its refrigerant, it has no Freon sticker, and it is too heavy to get to the curb anyway.
We take it as it stands. The refrigerant is recovered at the facility it goes to — the step federal rules require before an appliance is scrapped or landfilled — so there is nothing for you to arrange first.
- No Freon sticker needed for a paid removal
- Carried out from the garage, kitchen or utility room
- Doors secured before the unit moves
- Stove and washer can go on the same visit

FAQ
Appliance Removal and Disposal in Burleson, TX — common questions
- Will Burleson pick up an old refrigerator?
- Only with a sticker showing the Freon has been removed. Burleson’s bulk program collects regular kitchen appliances, but appliances that have not had the Freon removed are on its do-not-collect list.
- Can I take a refrigerator to a hazardous waste event?
- No. Burleson’s household hazardous waste events, open only to residents inside city limits, do not accept items containing refrigerant, and the Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center does not take appliances at all.
- Do I need to have the Freon removed before you collect it?
- No. We take the unit as it stands and route it to a facility equipped to recover the refrigerant, which is the step federal rules require before disposal.
- Should I add the stove to the job?
- Only if we are already coming. A stove on its own can go out with Burleson’s bulk pickup; it makes sense to add it when the refrigerator is going anyway and it is still inside the house.
