Storage Unit Cleanouts in Fort Worth

The math on a storage unit turns at some point: the annual rent exceeds the value of what is inside it, and everybody knows it, but emptying the unit is a whole day nobody has. That is the job this page is about.

Rent stops when the unit is clear

That is the whole economics of this job. Every month the unit stays half-full is another month of rent on a space holding a sofa nobody wants, four boxes of paperwork and a bed frame from a house that was sold in 2019.

Most people already know what is in there and already know most of it is going. What stops them is that emptying a ten-by-twenty unit means a truck, a crew and a disposal route — three things a household does not have on a Saturday.

We clear the unit, you hand back the key, and the direct debit stops.

Facility access is worth five minutes of planning

Storage facilities have gate codes, opening hours, one-way traffic routes, and often a rule about how long a vehicle can occupy a loading bay. Interior units on an upper floor add a shared elevator and a long corridor push.

Tell us the facility, the unit number and the access arrangement when you book. Where a gate code or an accompanied entry is needed, that is easy to plan for and awkward to improvise.

  • Drive-up units: quickest, truck loads directly
  • Interior ground-floor: corridor push with flatbeds
  • Upper-floor units: shared elevator, worth booking
  • Gate codes and accompanied access arranged in advance

Why units get cleared

The rent stopped making sense

The most common reason by a wide margin. The unit costs more per year than replacing the contents would.

A move that never finished

Things went into storage "temporarily" during a move three years ago and never came out.

An estate

A unit rented by someone who has died, cleared by the family or the executor.

A business closing down

Stock, files, fixtures and equipment held in storage after premises were given up.

A downsizing that overshot

More was kept than the new home could hold, and the overflow went into a unit.

An auctioned unit

A bought unit where the buyer wants the value and needs the rest gone the same day.

FAQ

Storage Unit Cleanouts in Fort Worth — common questions

Do I need to be at the facility while you clear it?
Usually at the start, to open the unit and confirm what is going. After that most people leave. Where the facility requires an authorized person on site throughout, that is their rule rather than ours.
Can you clear a unit I bought at auction?
Yes. That is a common booking — you take what has value and we clear the rest so the unit can be handed back inside the facility’s deadline.
What if the unit is on an upper floor?
Fine, but it takes longer because everything goes through a shared elevator and along a corridor. Mention it when you book so the job is sized correctly.
Will you sweep the unit out?
Yes. Most facilities require a unit to be handed back broom-clear, so that is part of finishing the job.
