A standard plug-in appliance is straightforward: unplug it, pull it out, take it. A washer with a shut-off valve and a hose is also fine — the crew closes the valve and disconnects the hose.
Where it stops is anything hard-plumbed or gas-connected. A gas range, a hard-piped water heater or an appliance wired directly into a junction box needs a licensed trade to isolate it before we arrive. That is not us being cautious for the sake of it — it is a line we are not licensed to cross, and getting it wrong causes real damage.
