After the move

Post-Move Junk Removal in Fort Worth

The other end of a move produces its own pile: a mountain of flattened cardboard, a hundred feet of bubble wrap, and the two or three pieces of furniture that turned out not to fit the new place.

  • Cardboard, packing material and wrap
  • Furniture that did not fit the new layout
  • Whatever the previous owner left behind
  • One visit once you know what is staying

Three separate problems that arrive together

First there is the packing debris. A three-bedroom move generates a genuinely startling volume of cardboard, and flattened boxes fill a garage faster than almost anything else.

Second, the furniture that did not work. Every move has two or three pieces that measured fine on paper and are wrong in the actual room — the sectional that blocks a doorway, the dining table too big for the space, the wardrobe that will not stand up under a sloped ceiling.

Third, whatever the previous occupant left. Paint cans in the garage, a shed full of somebody else’s things, curtains you are not keeping, and quite often an appliance.

What comes out after a move

Flattened cardboard

By volume the single largest post-move category, and the one that fills a garage fastest.

Packing material

Bubble wrap, paper, foam, packing peanuts and the wrap the movers used on the furniture.

Furniture that did not fit

Pieces that measured fine and are wrong in the actual room. Very common on a downsize.

Previous owner leftovers

Garage contents, shed contents, curtains, brackets and the occasional appliance.

Damaged in transit

The piece that arrived broken and is not worth repairing.

Duplicates

Two households combining into one produces a surprising amount of redundancy.

Wait until you know what is staying

Give it two or three weeks in the new place. The list of what does not work becomes obvious quickly, and one visit clears all of it.

FAQ

Post-Move Junk Removal in Fort Worth — common questions

Can you take just the cardboard?
Yes. A cardboard-only load is a normal booking, and it is usually cheap because flattened boxes are light even when they are bulky.
Should I book straight after the move or wait?
Wait two or three weeks. It takes about that long to find out which furniture genuinely does not work in the new space, and one visit is better than two.
The previous owner left things in the garage. Is that my problem?
Legally that depends on the sale contract, but practically it is now in your garage. We clear it. If there is anything hazardous in there, that needs household hazardous waste disposal separately.
Can you take furniture damaged during the move?
Yes. If you are making an insurance claim, photograph it thoroughly before we take it away — once it is gone, it is gone.
